Parades Worth Checking Out This Carnival Season

The Carnival season is about to kick into high gear and the parade schedule will be crazy. Getting to your favorite parade can be a little bit of a challenge if you don’t happen to live on the parade route. The NOPD will be blocking off streets well ahead of the parades on parade days. You are also not allowed to park on those streets starting at least two hours before the parades start. If you have never been to New Orleans, you will have a rough time getting around the city on Parade days. We at Alert Transportation know the city and know how to get you to your favorite parades and parties.

Krewe Du Vieux

ParadesThe Krewe Du Vieux is one of the city’s most infamous Carnival Krewe’s. The Krewe Du View will be marching through the French Quarter and the Marigny on February 8th this year starting around 6:30 pm. Head out early to the parade route if you want to get a got spot to see the Krewe’s adult themed floats. Usually, thousands of revelers line the streets to see this wildly popular parade which features satirical themes that are on the adult site of themes. This year, the Krewe is taking a closer look at the upcoming elections with the motto Erection 2020.

Greasing Of The Poles

ParadesThe annual Greasing Of The Poles will take place at the Royal Sonesta on 300 Bourbon Street at 10 am on Friday, February 21st. This ‘only in New Orleans’ king of event has a long history.  The ritual of the greasing of the poles which support the building, started a long time ago. Back then, the greased poles were meant to deter overzealous parade goers from climbing up to the balcony space. Nowadays, the ritual has turned into a star-studded and music-filled event.
